While weight training is genuinely indispensable for fitness, you need to perceive that your cardio fitness is as crucial to maintain. Specifically we take a look at a drill purposed at bettering your cardio endurance. Because… Greater cardio endurance = more salubrious heart = less risk of heart disease. Not only that, your heart starts working less harder for the same activities. That means you may take it up a level and move towards a much more inviolable you!

The FJ endurance challenge is aimed in doing just that. This is the kind of stuff footballers, aka soccer players do. Its highly effective and it is something that has helped me get my resting heart rate down to 54 beats per minute.

What you need to do is run 10 forty yard dashes (approximately 60 walking steps) at your top speed, with a greatest or most complete or best possible rest of 15 seconds amongst each dash.

The Beginner challenge: The best and worst times from your 10 sprints ought to not be more than 1 second apart.

The Intermediate challenge: The best and worst time from your 10 sprints ought to not be more than 0.5 seconds apart.

The Advanced challenge: The best and worst time from your 10 sprints must not be more than 0.3 seconds apart.

And guys, what is more necessary here is to not take more than the allotted 15 second rest. Its ok if in the beginning you cannot keep the divergence underneath 1 second. If you keep on doing this, you will improve your endurance sufficient to get it under that time.

So be strong and get even stronger!

crossfit regulars? hmmmm, id expect them to have better bodies than that, maybe their diets could just be better. Got a friend at the gym I was working at that was doing crossfit and wanting to go to an international comp and he grew like a beast when he got into his training.

Have to laugh at the calorie deficient builds of the ‘regulars’. Credit to their endurance & strength, but I’d personally choose a better balance between endurance, strength, AND size. Guys, you need to supplement more calories in your diets.

The point of the video isn’t to prove that CrossFitters are superior to fighters, the point is that the fighters that visited the gym all learned that adding CrossFit to their strength and conditioning program (as a supplement) is something that will help them improve their conditioning in the ring. No need to get butt-hurt, take a lesson from these guys and expand your horizons.

if you want to challenge a fighter fight him … thats that .
if its for fun then yeah sure , but you had that challenge mentallity of “im better than you” . you train on the weights and machines to be able to train more weight and machines , you have the spicific fitness for it .anyway that was lame .

Does anyone know who the band is when they begin the actual training?

@phattube7 but you’re bringing fighting ability into it, this is looking at fitness, though you are right that a crossfit regular will be better at crossfit than someone who’s never done it

No crossfit video on youtube is complete if it doesn’t have some good ole devil music.

@phattube7 This style training should be added to any fighters conditioning routine. 99% of all lost amateur fights lost is do to poor conditioning and conditioning is something you can develop much faster than technique or anything else. The man in better shape is a better fighter no matter what. I think this just shows the holes in these fighters training.

@USMCR From reading your comments, I don’t think that you are familiar with the principles and background of CF or what functional movements are. I think you should read more about it and learn it from the inside out before making such absurd claims. If you participate in a specific sport like hockey or baseball and CF, then yes CF is a only a part, but still a fairly large part.
No one says that if you are a CrossFitter you’ll be signed by the NFL because you CF.

in my opinion tere is 1 better way than crossfit to get all that, tapata (; i’ve been doin it and its much better it really ***** the juice out of you

@preatorianZ I don’t really think that was the goal here, to embarrass the MMAs. Had they invited a non-athlete, people would have said the same – not a fair challenge, etc. The goal, in my opinion, is to show how tough crossfit can be even to a well conditioned athlete like a MMA. Hey, have a crossfit guy do a MMA training session and most likely they will have a hard time. Crossfit complements my overal fitness plan, it’s plain fun, adds variety to my workouts and keeps me from getting bored.

@phattube7 I don’t believe they are saying that at all… fighters are usually considered to be some of the most fit people and they are certainly people that can handle the mental taxation of extreme workouts… I believe what they are saying is that even fighters can stand to improve by applying CrossFit principles

@USMCR BJ Penn’s MMA record is 15-6, and he has held both the lightweight and welterweight champion title.

This **** is friggin retarded. I can’t stand how these moronic crossfitters always like to think they’re badass because they can do a 2 minute fran. Gimme a break. You’ve proven you can do a defined set of exercises faster. Congrats. Now how about apply it to the real world.

@EZ2anger Empirical evidence or just your opinion?

  18. Karina says:

they are testing fitness not skill

One thing I have learned from doing crossfit and related type WODs for the past 3 years is…. Crossfit only makes you good at Crossfit and nothing else. So if ever you’re walking down the street and there is a Fran challenge, you’re going to kick everyone’s *** at it. Aside from that, CF is a decent strength and conditioning program but one must add other sport specific elements to it. CF is only a small part of the equation.

  20. Gregorio says:

    Willian

I’m a retired fighter and this is how I always trained in addition to my rolling and sparring. as a fighter you have to be a total athlete and that is what crossfit is: the development of the total athlete.

  21. Darwin says:

    Joann

@phattube7 But a fighter who does Crossfit will have an advantage over his opponent in a fight, because he will be much stronger for a lot longer.

  22. Violet says:

    Milford

@briantduke Hooray!! Its good to see someone get my point here! Obviously a well all-round trained bloke…? Hey I too have done plenty of crossfit and MMA and one cannot compare the two.. much like comparing apples and oranges.

  23. Ginger says:

    Alex

@phattube7 I’m a crossfit regular and I have to agree with you. It’s not fair to throw anyone into a workout like this without knowing the techniques or at least experiencing these exercises a few times first.

  24. Keisha says:

    Simon

@Burningrave speaking as a highschooler who started rowing last yr, it can be taught untill you are blue in the face but it takes time to get the technique down. also….CROSSFIT forever!

  25. Ferdinand says:

    Jerri

@phattube7 Hahaha exactly! That being said – cross fit is a pretty good workout regiment.
